NYC in SD

As some of you may know, NYC came out to see me for a bit. I asked her to contribute something to those of you out in blogland. Here is what she wrote...

One word sums up my trip here. Food. Okay, two words, food and boyfriend. Both very yummy.

Puni took such good care of me, I did not want to go home. Of course, he made sure I was on that plane back to the East Coast because he didn't want to wake up with any one of the "NYC" Must Stay In The East Coast factions pointing a shotgun to his head.

And did I mention that Puni is such a sweetheart?! As busy as he was, he still catered to my whims (and there were many, I tell you).

Met many of his friends, all very cool - how could they not be? They're mostly women (hee hee - you go Puni!).

However... I cannot stand that the only way to get around most (all?) of CA is by car. I am so spoiled living where I do. I step outside my door and voila - restaurants, stores, markets, more stores, churches, all within walking distance. One day, while he was at Landmark (for the whole day) I decided that I would just stay in the house and actually do the work I brought with me. By the end of the day, I was typing "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy."

There was no more being left alone in the house after that.

Some food highlights:

Antique Row Cafe - Got the Pay Day omellette and a biscuit with gravy. Did not need the biscuit with gravy.

The Big Kitchen - Crumb Cake. Oh. My. God. It is served hot with a side of butter. And the buttermilk pancake (only 1) takes up the entire plate AND comes with a side of butter.

Aswan - Puni was not joking about the catfish and the Somalian iced tea. And when I thought I was too damn full to slide myself out of the booth without creating a scene, Puni comes at me with a small bowl of heated bread pudding drizzled with caramel. I found room in belly.

Quick 'n Split - The burger is nicely charred so the edge is crunchy and comes with a slice of . . . pastrami I am still drooling.

Versailles - Lemon garlic sauce.

House of Puni and Hawaiian Punch - Puni's grilled steaks (like buttah) and fish tacos with that damn mango salsa that will haunt me and Hawaiian Punch's neverending coffee and guitar serenades.

Ratings on a scale of 1 - 10:

Location: 4

Company: 10

Food and Drink: 10

Pounds gained: off the scale HAHAHAHA! probably 10

Quality time with my boy: can't put a number on that =)

Hi, remember me?

I forgot about you, and I'm sorry. I have a lot of things to tell y'all about, but my time is short, so I'll just drop this stuff on you.

1. NYC is here with me in SD.

2. I completed my film, and it is in the Project Greenlight director's competition.

3. I am actually having a great time with my Landmark pursuits, and my life is beginning to work.

4. My buddy Elisa called me today after 3 months of not being in contact. 4. I did not get to "beat the system" as I thought I would get to, so I have to think of something else to do...

"Keepin' my head above water, makin' a wave when I can!"
